The WowUtils addon reads a small, fixed set of gameplay numbers the Warcraft API does not expose: crests, upgrade progress, Sparks, Great Vault contents, weekly quests, bonus rolls, raid lockouts and Mythic+ runs. It shares them with guildmates running the addon in game, and through the Bridge app with your own group on the site. Nothing about your account travels with it.
What It Reads
Everything is per character, picked up just by playing:
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Crest currencies | Your balance and season total for each crest tier, plus the conversion currency |
| Upgrade progress | How far each gear slot is already upgraded, the number that decides crest discounts |
| Crafting Sparks | How many Sparks you have, bank included |
| Great Vault | The items your vault actually offered, and which reward you picked |
| Weekly quests | Whether tracked weekly quests are done on that character |
| Bonus rolls | Which boss and difficulty you used a bonus roll on this season, and what it gave |
| Raid lockouts | Which raid bosses you killed this week, on Normal, Heroic and Mythic |
| Mythic+ runs | How many keys you ran this season at each key level |
| Character basics | Name, class, guild, and when the character last logged out, so the data lands on the right roster spot |
That is the whole list. The addon does not read your chat, your friends list, your gold, or anything about your Battle.net account.
Where It Goes
- Between guildmates, in game. After raid boss kills and in the background, characters running the addon swap this data over the game's own addon channels. That is how one loot council officer sees the whole roster without anyone filling in forms.
- To your group on the site, through Bridge. The one guildmate running WowUtils Bridge uploads what their addon has collected. Uploads are accepted only from a paired device, and only for characters on a roster of a group that person belongs to. Anything outside that scope is discarded on arrival.
- Never to a public profile. The data appears on your group's own Roster Report, character sheets and loot pages. The public API exposes none of it beyond your group's existing opt-in.
- Week by week. Your group can look back at earlier weeks: the site keeps each week's Great Vault, raid lockouts and Mythic+ runs, not only the current numbers.
Staying In Control
- Not running the addon means not sharing. Collection happens in the addon on your own machine. Uninstall it, or just do not install it, and nothing is read from your characters.
- Unlink a computer any time. Your profile's In game tab lists every paired Bridge computer under Desktop app, with a Revoke button. Revoking one stops its uploads immediately.
- See exactly what is stored in game. Type
/wuin-game to open the data explorer and browse every value the addon currently holds, for your characters and what guildmates have shared.
The fine print, in plain words
What we keep and why is in the Privacy Policy, and what the public API shares and never shares is in the API Terms. The short version: minimization is the rule, the addon's data is group coordination data, and identifiers stay out of the game entirely.
