The audit log is a running, unchangeable record of admin actions in your group: who changed what and when, across categories like membership, resets, cooldowns, and roster.
Admins can always view it, and so can anyone with the View Audit Log permission, which is on for officers by default. How far back it goes depends on your group's boost tier, from 7 days on free groups up to 365 days boosted.
What the Audit Log Is
The audit log is a running record of administrative changes in your group: who made a change, what they changed, and when. Entries are never edited or backdated, so the log is a reliable trail when you need to understand how your group reached its current state.
Where to find it
The audit log lives on your group page under Settings > Audit Log. Admins can always open it, and so can anyone with the View Audit Log permission. Officers have it by default, and admins can turn it on or off for any rank or member on the Members tab.
What Gets Recorded
Activity is grouped into eleven categories. Each category has its own color, shown as a dot next to every entry in the table. Use this as the legend for the colors you see on the page.
| Color | Category | What it records |
|---|---|---|
| Amber | Group | Create, rename, delete; settings and icon changes; ownership transfer; admin grant and revoke |
| Violet | Permissions | Member role and permission changes |
| Teal | Membership | Joins, leaves, removals (kicks); invite links created and revoked |
| Sky | Resets | Reset create, rename, duplicate, publish, delete |
| Indigo | Cooldowns | Cooldown note create and copy; editing sessions* |
| Cyan | Assignments | Assignment create and copy; editing sessions* |
| Orange | Calendar | Events created, updated, deleted, and cancelled; bulk actions; schedules |
| Lime | Roster | Roster claims, unclaims, claim requests, approvals and rejections, admin assignments |
| Emerald | Loot | RCLootCouncil imports, clears, and date purges |
| Rose | Guild (WCL) | Guild link and unlink; report import, re-import, and ignore |
| Pink | API | API key create and revoke; API sharing on and off |
* Editing sessions are recorded for boosted groups (Tier 2 and above), explained in the Editing Activity section below.
Raid time changes saved with Tell the team in Discord switched off are still recorded, marked "team not told in Discord".
How Long History Is Kept
Your group's boost tier sets two limits: how long entries are kept, and the most entries that can be stored at once. Boosting your group extends both.
| Tier | Retention | Event cap |
|---|---|---|
| Free (Tier 1) | 7 days | 1,000 events |
| Tier 2 (boosted) | 60 days | 5,000 events |
| Tier 3 (boosted) | 365 days | 15,000 events |
Entries expire once they pass the retention window. If your group is unusually busy and reaches the event cap before then, the oldest entries are removed first.
Editing Activity (Boosted Groups)
Live edits to resets, assignments, and cooldowns are recorded as well, but only for boosted groups (Tier 2 and above). A burst of rapid edits is gathered into a single entry per editing session rather than one entry per keystroke, so the log stays readable.
