What this page is
The Wowutils plan for Nymrissa Wavecaller: Guide for how to approach Cooldown Planning, and the jobs covered in the assignment planner. It is assumed that you already know the basics of the fight. For full boss guides, see the links in Full mechanics.

Nymrissa is a single phase fight on a fixed 1:50 loop. Abyssal Rain lands twice per loop, 44 seconds apart, and every Rain after the opener comes with a set of Frost Orb soaks on top. Those Rain windows carry the large majority of the raid damage. Once per loop the Whirlpools and the bubble popping right after them are the movement moment, and the bubble hit is the only other damage worth a cooldown.
- 1First Rain (0:43): After a lone opening Rain at 0:10, Chilling Frost marks three players and the Rain lands a few seconds later with their orb soaks on top. About 30 seconds of raid damage.
- 2Second Rain (1:27): The same window again, 44 seconds later.
- 3Bubble pops (~1:51 to 2:00): Whirlpools surge toward the bubble while the second set's last orbs are still being soaked, then it pops in a raidwide hit that knocks everyone away. The loop's movement moment, just after the second window closes.
- 4Repeat (2:33) repeats: The loop restarts on the next first Rain, exactly 1:50 after the last one.
Each Abyssal Rain opens a window of about 30 seconds: the downpour, its drench, and the orb bursts as the soakers clear their orbs. The worst seconds come 10 to 20 seconds in, not on the first hit, so coverage has to last. The windows grow through the fight, and the 4:23 one is usually the hardest.
Once per loop, at 1:51, 3:41, 5:31 and 7:21, the Whirlpools sweep the room and the bubble knocks everyone away 9 seconds later. Raid movement cooldowns go on the Whirlpools.
Two Rains per loop, 44 seconds apart, and each set repeats exactly every 1:50. 2 minute cooldowns fit on cooldown, 90 second and 3 minute cooldowns can hold one set all fight.

Your Cooldown Plan
Nymrissa channels a downpour on the whole raid for a few seconds, then the drench keeps ticking for about 25 seconds more. Every Rain after the opener lands with a set of Frost Orb soaks on top, which makes it the fight's damage window, about 30 seconds long. Each Rain also stacks up the boss's frost damage, so later windows hit a little harder.
The Rains come in two sets 44 seconds apart, and each set repeats exactly every 1:50. The opening Rain at 0:10 sits outside both.
- First set: 0:43, 2:33, 4:23, 6:13, 8:03
- Second set: 1:27, 3:17, 5:07, 6:57, 8:47
- 2 minute cooldowns: use them on the opening Rain, then on cooldown into whichever Rain is next: 2:33, 5:07, 8:03. A clean fit.
- 90 second cooldowns: pick one set and hold it all fight. The 1:50 spacing means they are always ready. With two of them, put one on each set.
- 3 minute cooldowns: hold a set the same way, but only every other Rain of it, 3:40 apart.
Holding a set gets as many uses as pressing on cooldown, and every use lands where you planned it.
Each Chilling Frost impact leaves a Frost Orb that has to be soaked, nine per set. A touch hits the soaker and stacks more orb damage on them. Mythic: every touch also bursts on the whole raid, so the soaks are a string of raidwide hits through the Rain window.
The bubble bursts in a raidwide hit and knocks every player away, about 9 seconds after the whirlpools. Once per loop, in the gap between Rain windows.
Other boss mechanics
Marks three players a few seconds before every Rain after the opener. The debuff slows and ticks, and each of its three impacts drops a Frost Orb where the player stands. Assigned soakers clear them, typically one tank, one immunity and one helper per set.
see Assignments →Whirlpools surge across the room toward the bubble once per loop, right before it pops, while the second set's last orbs are still being soaked. Raid movement cooldowns go on the cast. Move out of their path and be ready for the knock that follows.
The jobs we settle on for Nymrissa Wavecaller, and the reasoning behind each. Slot players on the planner; this page is the why.
Every Chilling Frost drops a set of Frost Orbs, and each set needs its own soakers, immunities or offtanks work best.
One row per orb set, and each row is its own group of soakers.
We deliberately don't re-teach the pull here. For first-timers, exact add pathing, and the complete ability list, these cover it better than we would.
