Which team a Discord channel belongs to, and which roles may use the bot in it, are the last two things you could only set from Discord. Both move to the website in this release.
Channel bindings
A binding is what tells Baldio which team a channel belongs to. Everything else on a channel card reads it: the calendar posts, the reminders, the weekly setup post.
- Bind a channel from the website. Open Integrations, go to Channels, and pick a channel at the bottom of the page. Private channels work too, since a binding by itself posts nothing.
- Unbind one from its card. Posting you already set up on that channel keeps working. Commands in it fall back to the default team, and the confirmation says which one.
- See the default. A channel with no binding of its own answers for the first team that was linked to your server. That has always been the rule, and now the page says so instead of leaving you to work it out. Cards without a binding say it too.
- A channel another team already took is shown, not hidden. It sits in the picker greyed out with the reason, so you are not left hunting for a channel you can see in Discord.
Officer and raider roles, per team
Roles used to be one setting for the whole Discord server. If two teams shared a server, one team designating its roles quietly replaced the other's, and the second team found out when its officers stopped being able to use the bot.
- Each team can have its own roles. Set them on the Discord bot status card under Integrations. They apply in the channels bound to that team.
- The server roles are still there, and are now editable too. They cover every channel that has no team of its own, and every team that has not set roles.
- Setting one team's roles leaves the other team's alone. That is the fix.
- Anyone who can configure your team on the website can set them. No Discord permissions needed.
Bind a channel to your team before setting its roles, since the roles are stored with the binding.
Around the app
- Every change is in the Audit Log. Binding, unbinding and both kinds of role change show who did it and when.
- Turning things off still works when Discord is down. Unbinding a channel and going back to the server roles both work whether or not Discord is answering.
The /channel bind-group, /channel unbind-group and /server set-roles commands are on their way out now that the website covers them.
