Baldio is the Discord bot that connects your group to your Discord server. It posts your raid nights and setups into your channels, raiders set their signup status right on the post, and officers can put the whole thing on a weekly schedule. The bot has grown a lot since its release post, so this one is a catch-up: what is new now, and what is coming next. There is also a new overview page at wowutils.com/baldio, and the setup guide covers linking it to your group.
Setup images on your raid nights
When a calendar event has a setup linked to it, the posted event now carries that setup as an image: the full lineup, right in the Discord post.
- The post keeps itself current. An Update button on the event refreshes signups and the setup image in place, so the message your raiders look at is the latest state, not a repost further down the channel.
- Setup posts update in place too. Posting a setup with
/post setupor/post next-setupnow edits the existing message when things change, instead of stacking a new copy below the old one.
An activity feed for officers
Run /channel subscribe-group-changes and that channel becomes a running feed of your group: raid nights created or cancelled, signup changes with who made them, including statuses set by an officer, and members linking or unlinking their Discord. New entries show up within a few minutes.
One server, more than one team
If your Discord server runs several raid teams, channels can now point at different groups. /channel bind-group routes a channel to a specific group, and calendar and feed subscriptions are picked per group, so each team's events, setups and activity land in their own channels.
Around the bot
- Errors say what to do next. Instead of a raw error code, the bot now tells you what went wrong and how to fix it, like a group that has not turned on API sharing yet, or a channel it is not allowed to post in.
- Event posts got a cleaner look. Each event carries its own color accent and a shorter title, with the event name up top.
- Cleanup runs on your region's clock. Finished raid nights are removed from the channel on your region's time. Guilds outside Europe previously had them removed hours off schedule.
What is coming
Next on the list for the bot:
- Signing up for any upcoming raid night from Discord, not just the ones already posted.
- Locking signups at a set time before raid.
- Reminders: a nudge for people who have not signed up yet, and a warning before raid for gear issues like missing enchants.
- A ping when an officer changes your status on an event.
- Submitting loot wishlist links from Discord, and a reminder when your sim goes stale.
As always, feedback and ideas are welcome in Discord.
