v5.5.0: Curio AutoComp and Curio AutoAssign

Release

22 June 2026

Written by Penkek

Two new Curio tools this release, both aimed at the slow parts of raid prep. AutoComp builds your setup, who plays each boss. AutoAssign fills your per-boss assignments, who soaks, who interrupts, who stands where. Both work on the Midnight Season 1 raids, both run in a click, and both leave the result yours to edit.

A quick note on how it works, since it's the same solver that already does your loot splits: Curio doesn't copy what other guilds did. It works your raid out against each boss from scratch, and every boss is set up by hand. That's why it isn't instant. It's actually solving the fight, so give it a moment.

AutoComp

Every reset, you decide who's in on each boss. That means juggling raid buffs, your tank and healer counts, a sane spec spread, who still needs loot or a vault slot, and who's sitting which boss. By hand, for every boss, every week.

  • Builds a full setup in one click. Curio fills who plays each boss across your roster, balanced and ready for you to look over.
  • Balances what you'd balance yourself. Tanks and healers, raid buffs, a healthy spec spread, and loot and vault needs, all weighed together for each boss.
  • Respects who's in and who's out. Players who've called themselves in or out on a boss are honored, and you can set an item level floor and carry spots so the right people ride along.
  • You keep the final say. Lock anyone you want kept in place, run it again, and apply when it looks right.

It also checks whether a comp can even work. On Alleria, a Death Knight or Priest can't reach their spot without a grip or a rescue. Curio knows that: hand it one Evoker, one Priest, and three Death Knights, and it spots the Death Knight that ends up stranded, then fixes it by finding another Priest or dropping a Death Knight, instead of giving you a comp that breaks on the pull.

AutoComp is free for everyone, with supporters getting priority when Curio is busy.

AutoAssign

Once your roster's set, there's the per-boss jobs: soaks, interrupts, externals, who stands where. You drag players into each slot, boss by boss, and redo it whenever the lineup changes.

  • Fills a boss's assignments for you. Curio reads the boss and slots your players into its jobs, matched by class and spec.
  • Built boss by boss. Each boss we've tuned has its own logic for what the jobs are and who fits them, so the result lines up with how the fight is actually run. We're adding bosses as we build their rules.
  • Review and adjust. Curio lays the assignments onto the boss, keep what works, change what doesn't, or revert the whole solve in one click.

It handles the fiddly ones too. On a fight where the raid splits into positioned soak groups, melee in close to the boss, short-range ranged like Evokers and Demon Hunters one group out, healers spread so the debuff lands evenly, Curio reads all of that and fills each group with players who fit it, not just the first names free.

One thing to know about this first release: AutoAssign fills a boss fresh. It works the whole block out its own way rather than building around a player you placed by hand, so running it can move people you put in. Pinning someone to a slot, and Curio using your group's history, are already built; we're holding them back on purpose. We wanted the solver in your hands first, so you can tell us where it gets a boss wrong before the extra layers go on.

AutoAssign is part of our Rare supporter tier and up. Every boss needs its own hand-built logic kept current as strats and tuning shift, and that ongoing work is what supporters fund. It's also part of what keeps AutoComp free for everyone. See what's included on the Supporter page.

Where this saves you most

The messy weeks. A farm clear with a different crew, a couple of mains out, progression where you're swapping trials in and out, or a pug you're putting together on the spot. The lineup isn't what you planned last week, so the plan doesn't fit.

  • AutoComp rebuilds the comp around whoever's actually there.
  • AutoAssign refills the jobs for that exact group, every soak, interrupt, and external, no dragging names around.
  • CD Templates drop the cooldowns on top, assigned to a spec or class slot instead of a name, so they land on tonight's roster too.

Three steps, and the night's planned around whoever showed up.

What's next

Two things are already built and next up: pinning a player to a slot so a solve keeps them there, and Curio using your group's history so it leans toward the calls you usually make. And loot splits, Curio's original tool, are being rebuilt to sit alongside your comps and assignments instead of off on their own.
